Crazed bearded men and the men in blue suits

mourning-in-baghdad

Damn the terrorists
Damn the weapon industry
Damn the thieves and liars
in their polished shoes
and blue suits
Their hearts charred
from the burning flesh of innocents

Crazed bearded men
brandishing AK47s
with the holy book in one hand
and a knife to slit the throat of their next victim.
Crazed bearded men with the
Right hand for eating,
for shooting
and slicing your jugular.

Crazed bearded men paid off
by Western leaders in polished shoes and blue suits
Crazed bearded men ready to poison minds
of young men
ready to be slaughtered
for a false ideology

Bombs raining down
Bombs of freedom, democracy and hope?
An orphan
Picking food out of a trash can
In his pocket a memory of the family he once had

A woman selling her body to survive
Etched in her mind
images of her dead babies
among the rubble of chaos
Prayers forgotten
Dreams dispersed

A grandfather burying two generations
Tears mixed with soil, sweat and anguish
In his heart prayers for the dead
Hands cupped to pray for their souls
Hands cupped to beg for food

A people held hostage in a war thats not theirs
A people with false hope from the men in blue suits
and polished shoes

A country raped of it’s innocence
violated,
to fill the pockets
of the men in blue suits
And the political-religious campaign
of the crazed bearded men
