According to an article in the Hindustan Times the terrorists who went on a killing spree in the heart of Mumbai killing 200 people and injuring hundreds of others, were trained by former Pakistani army officials and the “powerful ISI”. The New York Times which covered this story in their paper on Wednesday could also reveal the following information
” A former Defense Department official said Wednesday that American intelligence agencies had determined that former officers from Pakistan’s Army and its powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency helped train the Mumbai attackers (…) the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that no specific links had been uncovered yet between the terrorists and the Pakistani government”
It is highly questionable that this official wishes to remain anonymous. For all we know he could be connected to the CIA, some crazed neocon or a con artist who has managed to steal the identification papers from the American Intelligence Agency.
Just one second Intelligence….. you mean the same Intelligence which claimed that Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction? The same Intelligence which claimed that there was a link between Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden? You mean the same Intelligence which helped destabilise and uproot a whole nation based on accusations which proved to be fabricated to promote the W.O.T? I worry each time someone mentions “intelligence” sources, and as you can guess with good reason too.
We need to contextualize the facts and look at reality. Why would Pakistan, a country with daily suicide bombings, and the problems of the North Western Frontier and with USA bombing it’s backyard decide to start bombing India? Yes Pakistan is used for a training ground by extremists, but isn’t that not expected in a country as vast and as disorganised as Pakistan? It is unlikely that Pakistan is involved.
I found some interesting articles on the net which take up the issue of CIA involvement in the attack, the question of how the counter-terrorism team of three respectable officers got killed in one go, that this attack is to destabilise relations between Pakistan and India with USA twisting their arms. Also the immediate murder of ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar and Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte during the Mumbai terrorist attacks is also something to look closer at when Karkare had already received death threats from Hindu extremists.
