Shoe-tosser: No apology. Not now. Not in the future.

According to Muntazer al-Zaidi’s lawyer, the shoe-tosser has no intentions of apologizing to Bush

Dhiya ‘a al-Sa ‘adi, al-Zaidi’s lawyer, told Al Jazeera on Monday: “Muntazer al-Zaidi considers what he did when he threw his shoes at President Bush as exercising his freedom of expression, in opposing and rejecting the occupation, which has brought misery to Iraq.” Al-Sa’adi said al-Zaidi was not considering giving an apology to the US president, “not now, nor in the future”.

Muntazer has been brutally tortured and his family now fear for his life. In my opinion the Iraqi government could foresee the demonstrations across the Muslim world praising Muntazar’s actions. The question is whether the government is going to be fearless enough to release the journalist while Bush is still in office. They probably do not want to look as if they are condoning his actions and therefore beating the living daylights out of this journalist which they all secretly admire for doing what the Iraqis should have done after Saddam was toppled.

  1. release him.
    now.

  2. Yes they should release him but it will send the wrong message – I dont think the prime minister Nour al-Maliki wants to look soft or as if he agrees with Muntzar’s actions. Maliki can be toppled overnight if he doesn’t play his cards right

  3. don’t care.
    and not this guys problem.

iraq belongs to alsader or however you spell it. they have walled in the one’s in bagdad and are killing them everywhere. there is no need for volience or an election. though one would elect the guy. this is all CIA corporate murder, for nothing but oil.

  4. There is more than oil at the heart of this war…. destabilising the whole Middle East and carving up Iraq into three controllable states. Suggested sources: truthgig.com , antiwar.com, readings of Scott Ritter, Chris Hedges, Naomi Klein and Tariq Ali
